Introducing Beverley!

Allow us to introduce you to Beverley!

About

  • Surrounded by beautiful countryside, Beverley is a flourishing market town at the centre of the Yorkshire Wolds villages, situated around 10 miles North of Hull, and around 30 miles Southeast of York. Beverley is located close to the coast, both Hornsea (24 minutes, 13 miles) and Bridlington (38 minutes, 22 miles) are easily accessible.
  • Voted one of the best places to live by the Sunday Times in 2019 and 2020, and in 2007 and one of the best places to live in the Royal Bank of Scotland’s “Affordable Affluence” survey. There is a reason why this popular town keeps making an appearance in these lists.
  • Beverley is beautifully unspoilt, and is full of character and charm, with beautiful Georgian and Victorian tree line terraces, and a flourishing rural market town centre.
  • You can see Beverley Minster rising gracefully above the roof tops and trees as you approach the town from any direction. The Minster is the heart of this pretty market town and is one of Britain’s largest and finest examples of Medieval Gothic architecture. Inside it is full of intricate musical carvings in stone and woodwork, medieval stained glass, and decorations.
  • Beverley is blessed with a second church St Mary’s at the other end of the town, which is also magnificently decorated inside. It is said that the carving of the March inspired the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.
  • Beverley is lucky to be surrounded by a huge expanse of public green space within walking distance from the town centre, the Westwood pasture; beautiful undulating countryside, framed by medieval forests, where cattle roam free from April to September. Used by locals for long dog walks up to the black Mill (an abandoned windmill which is a local landmark), exercise, picnics, or kite flying.
  • Beverley is steeped in history, something you realise when you pass through the North Bar, the gateway to the town centre. Some of the ornate medieval buildings remain, together with elegant Georgian and Victorian shop frontages, the buildings are quirky, unique, and characterful. There are several cobbled streets and courtyards to discover. Largely unaltered by modern town centre redevelopment, over 350 buildings here are listed as having architectural or historic merit
Schools

  • School facilities are excellent in and around Beverley. There are many good primary schools in Beverley with Molescroft and Swimemoor, and Keldmarsh, rated “outstanding” by Ofsted (2017, 2008 and 2017).

A department store, Browns, as well as some high-end high-street brands, such as the White Company, and Jigsaw. Beverley is a shopping destination to enjoy.

  • The markets are a food lover’s dream, and a celebration of delicious products. With a range of local producers selling speciality food and drink, including meat, artisan cheeses and breads, as well as locally sourced fruit and veg and handcrafted produce. There is also a range of local artisans producing handmade crafts and an array of unusual treasures. The Market is a feast for the senses, offering sights, tastes, and aromas to enjoy.
